Our Mission: Beyond Burning’s mission is to galvanize communities to reduce waste and end incineration. We aim to achieve science-driven, locally-sourced solid waste solutions that result in clean air and environmental justice.
Our Vision: Educate and increase awareness of local communities on the danger of incineration and engage communities to action.
The Energy Justice Network is a national non-profit support network for grassroots community activists fighting polluting energy and waste facilities, advocating for a clean energy and zero-waste future. It provides support and resources, including a map of dirty energy facilities and email networks, to help communities oppose harmful industries and achieve environmental justice.
Broward Clean Air is a grassroots community organization in Southwest Ranches, Florida, to educate, inform and bring together South Florida region residents and businesses; local, county and state elected officials to oppose the building of any new trash burning incinerators in Broward County. The organization advocates for protection and sustainability of human health, clean air, water, soils, and the wetlands ecosystems of the Florida Everglades by way of fully adopting peer reviewed ZERO Waste Hierarchy strategies.
Elders Climate Action (ECA) is a project of Elders Action Network (EAN) and is mission-centered, issue-focused and nonpartisan. They do work to inform, inspire, and engage others to take action on the climate crisis. The organization is comprised of elder generations who are concerned about the future for all children and all life and are determined to do all they can to leave a sustainable planet for future generations.
The Sierra Club Loxahatchee Group serves Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Okeechobee counties in Southeast Florida. The group offers opportunities to explore, enjoy, and protect the environment by volunteering, going on outings and becoming environmental activists. Sierra Club mission statement is “to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth’s ecosystems and resources; To educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment, and to use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.”
